Inspired from the theme of 'Joyful Expression', my project revolves around translating the emotional response of joy, happiness and positivity through design. In the wake of Covid-19, we have sought optimism as a means to uplift & unite people during these challenging times.The project tells a story of sustainability and ethical manufacturing by how the collections were produced, right from the fibre stage at Mehera Shaw.
‘Kokoro’ - is a Japanese word, which in essence means the heart of all things & the connection of mind, body and spirit. The projects consists not one, but many statements of sustainability.
This is where my project starts.
INIKA | Baby & Mum Collection
Collection Brief :
To develop a Madhubani art inspired collection for infants with coordinating garments & accessories for mum (womenswear). The theme for this collection was open to the interpretation of the joyful expression trend.
Deliverables : Baby Outfits, Baby products such as quilts, pillows, mats, swaddle wraps and other pieces, coordinating nightwear styles for Women
This collection explores the joyful bond between a mother & child.
KOMOREBI | Womenswear Collection
Collection Brief :
To develop a develop a casual contemporary womenswear collection inspired from Japanese style.
Guidelines:
• Mix-match coordinates
• Combination of bright and cool colour palette
• East/West Vibe
• Bold florals using floral botanical silhouettes as inspiration
• Earthy & botanical graphics
• Japanese aesthetic
