Our team partnered with the City of Savannah to translate the 100% Savannah renewable energy plan into a community-centered communication campaign.
What is 100% Savannah?

In March 2020, the Savannah City Council unanimously passed the 100% Savannah Renewable Energy Plan, committing the city to addressing climate change through renewable energy while centering equity and environmental justice. As part of SCAD’s DMGT 740: Sustainable Practices in Design course, our team worked with the City of Savannah to help communicate this vision through research, branding, and public engagement.
What we noticed
For many residents, the city’s renewable energy goals felt distant and difficult to connect to everyday life. While the plan outlined an ambitious vision for Savannah’s future, its success depended on public understanding, participation, and community buy-in.
What we explored
Through primary research and contextual inquiry, we explored residents’ perceptions of renewable energy, their priorities and concerns, and opportunities to make the city’s sustainability initiatives more accessible, relatable, and actionable.
What I learned
Design can help bridge the gap between policy and public participation. By translating complex sustainability goals are translated into relatable stories, visuals, and experiences, people are better able to see how their individual actions connect to larger systems of change.
My role
I helped translate research insights into visual communication strategies that encouraged engagement with Savannah’s renewable energy goals.
My contributions included developing campaign visuals, shaping the brand language, and creating communication materials that reflected the perspectives and priorities of Savannah residents.
